Our Story

The Bear Homestead began with nothing more than a dream, a loaf of bread, and a whole lot of love. We’re a small family on a patch of land, doing our best to raise our son, grow what we can, and bake the kinds of things that remind people what food used to taste like—real, honest, homemade.

The name “The Bear” came about when my wife was pregnant with our firstborn. Let’s just say she had very strong opinions about food—what she wanted, how it was cooked, and when it was served. She was fierce, protective, and hungry, and more than once, I called her “The Bear” when I missed the mark. The name stuck—and so did the heart behind it. Because feeding people well is serious business, and when you’re cooking for someone you love, it shows.

What started as homemade sandwich bread at our kitchen counter turned into cinnamon rolls, cookies, and eventually a whole farmers' market booth. We don’t use shortcuts or cut corners. We bake with farm-fresh eggs from our hens, real butter, and ingredients we trust.

At The Bear Homestead, it’s not just about selling baked goods. It’s about building something slow and meaningful, the way our grandparents did—one loaf, one roll, one customer at a time. From our home to yours, thank you for being part of the story.
